As part of Northumberland County Council’s ‘Putting the Learner First’ programme there is to be some reorganisation of schools in Blyth. It is planned that, in September 2009, Newsham First School should become a two form entry primary school; this means that we would have two classes in each year group until the end of Year 6 at which time pupils would transfer to a secondary school.
It is proposed that Newsham Primary School is a newly built school on our current site.
The ‘Putting the Learner First’ agenda in Blyth is currently in its consultation stages. We will ensure parents are kept informed of any future changes as soon as possible.
Mrs Armstrong is also Head Teacher of Princess Louise First School, which is in addition to her role at Newsham. This arrangement has provided many exciting opportunities for staff, children and parents to work together. Both schools have been enriched by this close working relationship.
Resources are shared across both schools; we have one School Improvement Plan and curriculum delivery supported by joint subject leaders.
