Simple first aid is given at school when necessary. If an accident occurs and we believe further attention is required we will contact you to come to school to take a look at your child.
In school we have appointed qualified first aiders who deal with most incidents.
Please ensure that all your contact details are kept up to date and that Mrs. Watson knows of any change in telephone number or change of address. This is very important in case we need to contact you in an emergency. Please keep school informed about any health matters, especially allergies, relating to your child.
The need for medication to be administered to pupils during the school day must be supported by parents written request, (form obtained from Mrs. Watson at the office) and it is only possible for medication prescribed by the child’s doctor. Over the counter medication cannot be administered by school staff.
It is also important to keep the administration of medication to a minimum and parents are requested to consider the possibility of administering the daily dose out of school hours or the possibility of coming to school to administer the medication. 3 x per day medication will not be accepted as this could be given out of school hours.
Head Lice can be a real problem in schools. Cases of Head Lice should be reported to the class teacher, so that a letter can be distributed to the other children in the class. Advice on treatment is outlined in the letter sent out to parents. Mrs. Watson has a few combs available to buy from the school office.
Please note that the school is not responsible for treatment. The Health Authority clearly places responsibility with parents.
