Information Communication Technology

Our aim is to provide children with the skills they need to live in the 21st Century. We are constantly updating our hardware to ensure our children have access to the best.

We are very proud of the ICT facilities we have at Newsham. All classes have access to computers within their classrooms which are directly linked to our school network. We have our own school broadband internet facilities which are carefully monitored to ensure that the children cannot access any inappropriate material.

Each classroom has an Interactive Smartboard, an invaluable tool for sharing ICT resources with the children. We have a newly completed ICT suite of 20 state of the art computers and a suite of 15 laptop computers.

Children’s ICT work is stored in a central location throughout their time with us at Newsham. In our half termly class newsletters we aim to provide relevant links to the internet to guide pupils and parents to further resources available linked to the subject areas being covered. Teachers highlight the use of ICT in their planning and tailor make their own electronic resources to use during lessons. ‘Knowledge Box’ is a recent addition to our resources and allows teachers to make use of a wide range of video clips, texts and interactive activities to enhance lessons.

We teach ICT as a discrete subject as well as encouraging our children to use and develop their ICT skills across all other subjects. During ICT lessons emphasis is placed on the development of:
