At the end of Key Stage 1 (age 7) pupils are required to undertake Statutory Standardized Assessment Tests (SATs). At Newsham we have also decided that our Year 3 and 4 pupils complete Optional SATs tests.
These are summative assessment tests in English and Maths. The results of these tests are published to parents. In Key Stage 1 pupils will be working on Levels 1,2 and possibly 3 of the National Curriculum with most pupils achieving at least Level 2 by the end of the Key Stage.
By the end of Year 4 some of our pupils are working within Level 4 of the National Curriculum.
