Newsham First School is situated in the south west corner of the coastal town of Blyth. Our nursery is situated in the original school building whilst all of our other classes and the school office are situated in the main school building some 30 metres away. We are lucky to have a large enclosed playing field, hard play areas and a small adventure playground.

Our nursery has its own enclosed play area, a large community room and a small kitchen area.

All of our brightly decorated classrooms are of a good size, hexagonal in shape, contain modern equipment and are newly carpeted and double- glazed. Every classroom is equipped with an Interactive Whiteboard, which teachers and pupils use daily to enhance learning; along with this every classroom has at least one PC which has a broadband internet connection.

We are very proud of our ICT provision and now boast a 20 computer ICT room, which is very popular with staff and pupils. Every computer in school is attached to our school network. We also have 16 laptop computers which can be used throughout school on a wireless network.

Our school corridors are brightly decorated with pupils work. We have a library area which the children are encouraged to visit and enjoy a range of books in comfortable surroundings.

Our large school hall is used for assemblies, dinners and PE lessons. School dinners are served from our on-site kitchen. We have a range of modern PE equipment and a newly purchased set of musical instruments.

We have a classroom and a work area that are designated for pupils working in smaller groups.

We currently have 275 pupils on role in the main school. Our pupils are divided into 9 mixed ability and gender classes; two of these are mixed age group.
